NC IDEA Applications Deadline Is This Month

By Vicky Janowski, posted Mar 10, 2017
Entrepreneurs wanting to apply to NC IDEA’s seed grants or two of the organization’s acceleration programs have until 5 p.m. March 13 to submit their information.

NC IDEA is a private foundation focused on young, high-growth companies.

It is now taking applications for its 23rd seed grant cycle. The grants, up to $50,000 each, are awarded “to innovative startups between proof of concept and first institutional funding to support business activities that validate potential markets, reduce risk associated with early stage companies and advance startups to the point of suitability for growth funding; be that crowdfunding, angel or venture capital investment,” according to a news release.

In the past decade, the organization’s seed grant program has handed out more than $4.5 million to 109 high-growth companies in the state.

NC IDEA also is taking applications for its Groundwork Labs and SoarTriangle acceleration programs.

“Groundwork Labs is a 10-week ‘no strings attached’ program that accelerates pre-seed startups toward their next goal,” the release stated. Its session starts May 16.

SoarTriangle was founded in 2012 to address the funding gap for female entrepreneurs and formally became a foundation program in August. It is a six-month program and is geared toward women starting scalable businesses and actively raising seed or Series A funding.

All of the programs are open to North Carolina-based entrepreneurs and companies or those looking to relocate to North Carolina. For more information or to apply, go to ncidea.org.
