Time Magazine Raises A Glass To Untappd

By Jeff Hidek, posted Nov 18, 2016
It’s been a good year for Untappd, a product of Wilmington-based Next Glass.

Time magazine ranked the craft beer-lover’s app No. 25 out of the Top 50 Apps of the Year in November. The magazine lauded the fact that “you’ll always be able to remember the name of that new brew you tried last night.”

Also, since February more than 3,000 business locations worldwide have signed up and partnered with Untappd, according to a recent company release.

Bottle shops, breweries, restaurants and retailers have linked up with the new Untappd for Business to promote their beers to craft beer enthusiasts.

Untappd for Business is a software as a service (SaaS) platform that helps businesses promote their beer by connecting them with app users in the area. It provides targeted promotions and includes several operations tools, such as custom print menus, website and Facebook integrations, social media posting, digital beer boards and analytics that help save businesses time and money.

“There are millions of people worldwide that make up the passionate community behind Untappd, and now, for the first time ever, businesses are able to connect and become more engaged with Untappd users in their local markets,” said Bryan Batten, vice president of business development at Untappd, in the release. The partnerships let Untappd users fnd almost any beer nearby, as well as learn about upcoming beer-related events in their area and provide exposure for the businesses.

More than four million users have “checked in” nearly 400 million beers, the company says.
