CastleBranch Teams Up With OOHLALA App

By V.L. Craven, posted Jul 31, 2015
CastleBranch Corp., parent company of CertifiedBackground, announced this month that it has partnered with the college-focused app OOHLALA in the development of a new mobile student engagement platform for students seeking a career in health care professions, according to a news release.

The mobile platform will be offered for free to a number of select college and university programs through an exclusive pilot program beginning this summer, officials said.

During the pilot program, OOHLALA will develop a unique app for each participating school that will offer features such as real-time communication channels for community and peer engagement;  program-specific virtual campus tours and GPS; a suite of interactive study tools; club and organization event calendars; resources – such as a medical dictionary; important dates and alerts; and online administrator access to app data, usage and analytics.

“From our experience working with more than 11,000 college and university programs, we understand the importance of students engaging successfully with their program, school and campus life,” Brett Martin, CEO and founder of Wilmington-based CastleBranch, said in a statement.

CastleBranch, a background heck company, already had a presence with the higher education field before the OOHLALA tie-in. The company, for example, is the exclusive background-screening provider for the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, and CastleBranch  provides services for more than two-thirds of the colleges and universities in the country, officials said.

“CastleBranch’s new edTech accelerator, tekMountain, played a pivotal role in sourcing, evaluating and fast-tracking this product though the partnership development phase and into the pilot program  launched today,” the release stated.

The college mobile app OOHLALA launched in 2011 and is used by more than 200 education institutions and 500 departments in six countries, officials said. Forbes this year included the company’s founders on its 30 under 30 list under in the education category.
