Former PPD Exec Named CFO At AAIPharma Services

AAIPharma Services Corp., has hired a new executive vice president and chief financial officer, Philippe M. Maitre.

Maitre brings to AAIPharma Services 30 years of global financial management experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, according to a release.  Most recently, he was chief financial officer for Oscient Pharmaceuticals, a commercial-stage pharmaceutical company.

“Philippe brings a wealth of leadership experience to our company,” said Patrick Walsh, new CEO of AAIPharma Services. “He has managed organizations on a global basis, and will oversee all administrative and financial roles within AAIPharma Services. Philippe possesses a keen financial discipline and excellent business skills that will aid in our company’s expansion initiatives.”

Walsh was announced as CEO last week. L. Lee Karras, who led AAIPharma Services through its transition to an independent company, continues in his role as president and will also took the job of chief operating officer.

Maitre’s career includes a stint as chief financial officer at PPD Inc.

He has served in multiple senior executive positions around the world, including assignments in Europe and Japan. He was the deputy CFO, corporate controller and corporate treasurer of Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Aventis (Sanofi-Aventis), and CFO of PPD Inc., a leading global contract research organization. He also served as CEO of Anosys, a company specializing in oncology. Maitre began his career with the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Libya as the manager of French – Libyan Chamber of Commerce. He holds an advanced degree from Hautes Etudes de Commerce (HEC), the leading French Business School based in Paris.
