Super Bowl Specials

With Super Bowl Sunday approaching, several local restaurants are gearing up for large crowds and even larger numbers of take-out orders.

According to the National Chicken Council’s 2015 Wing Report released last week, 1.25 billion wings are expected to be consumed during Super Bowl XLIX, matching 2014’s record.

To put that into perspective, if 1.25 billion wing segments were laid end to end, they would stretch back and forth from CenturyLink Field in Seattle to Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts almost 28 times. Or, since the Super Bowl is being played in Arizona, here's another scale indicator: 1.25 billion wings would circle the Grand Canyon 120 times. And that is enough wings to put 572 wings on every seat in all 32 NFL stadiums, according to the council.

Area restaurants, such as Katy’s Bar & Grill, Buffalo Wild Wings and Wild Wing Café, are all currently taking pre-orders for Sunday afternoon pick up.

But wings are not the only food fans will be devouring during the game. According to Pizza.com, Super Bowl Sunday is one of the top five pizza sales days each year.

Papa John's is celebrating its 30th anniversary with a free pizza offer. Minimum orders of $15 placed between Jan. 30 and Super Bowl Sunday will qualify for a free large, up-to-three-topping pizza with their next order, beginning Feb. 3.

Michaelangelos Pizza will offer a large loaded pie for $19.25 and a 24-inch two-topping pizza with a two-liter bottle of soda for $22.99. Additional specials will be available at both locations closer to game time and will be posted to the restaurant’s Facebook page.

Incredible Pizza will offer $2 off any large pie, $5 off any two large pies and $10 off three large pies. This special will run at both Wilmington locations.
