Wilmington’s third location of Pet Supplies Plus has brought goods and services for family animals to 3500 Oleander Drive, Suite R050, at Independence Mall.
The store, which holds its grand opening festivities June 3 and 4, is operated by Aaron Breasseale, who most recently managed the Pet Supplies Plus store at 5954 Carolina Beach Road near Beau Rivage.
Breasseale has been with Pet Supplies Plus for a decade, working first with the Michigan-based company’s corporate operations before becoming involved at the store level. This is his first store opening, he said Friday.
“Working with Pet Supplies Plus brought me to the Wilmington area a few years ago, but making this transition from being ‘in the community’ to being ‘a part of the community’ has been incredible,” Breasseale added. “This location at Independence Mall is really bridging the gap between the two current Pet Supplies Plus locations in Wilmington.”
The third Pet Supplies Plus location is just off Market Street in Ogden, at 134 Hays Lane.
All three locations offer natural pet foods, pet grooming (including a self-service pet wash), adoptions, aquarium services and a wide range of pet accessories. All three are owned by Chris Bennett, who recently purchased the Pet Supplies Plus store in Surf City as well.
The Independence Mall store, while open now, will mark its official opening June 3 with complimentary nail trims and dog washes and will draw for prizes of a year’s worth of dog or cat food. Mystery scratch cards for $5 to $10 will be distributed during the day.
On June 4, the first 100 people visiting the store will receive a free small bag of dog or cat food.
Breasseale said he and Samantha Stutts, operations manager for all stores owned by Bennett, will partner with Freedom Bridge Animal Rescue and All 4 Cats. Additionally, they will host year-round adoption events, fundraisers and pet food and product collection drives.
