Hendrick Automotive To Operate Stevenson Honda Of Wilmington

By Johanna Cano, posted Jun 19, 2018
Stevenson Honda of Wilmington will now be operated by Hendrick Automotive Group under its new name Stevenson-Hendrick Honda Wilmington, according to a news release.

The Charlotte-based auto dealer will also operate Susan Stevenson’s other dealership, Stevenson-Hendrick Toyota Jacksonville.

Counting the new partnership, Hendrick Automotive Group now has three franchises in Wilmington, including Jeff Gordon Chevrolet and Hendrick Toyota Wilmington.

Johnny Stevenson, Susan Stevenson’s late husband, owned the two dealerships until he passed away in October.

Chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group Rick Hendrick said Johnny Stevenson was one of the best car dealers he has met.

“Johnny put a tremendous value on his people and made it a point to take care of them,” Hendrick said in a news release. “Susan and I have been friends for years, and she has continued that culture. I look forward to working with her as a partner to keep the Stevenson tradition alive and to carry on that legacy. I’ve been so impressed with our new teammates at these two stores.”

Susan Stevenson will now consult and partner with Hendrick Automotive Group.

“I’m thrilled that we were able to partner with Hendrick Automotive Group in the continuing operation of these two stores. I am very comfortable and confident that our relationship will thrive in taking care of our wonderful employees and making both stores huge successes,” Stevenson said in a press release.

Stevenson-Hendrick Honda Wilmington is located on 11 acres at 821 S. College Road. It has around 400 new and 260 pre-owned vehicles. According to David Harris, from automotive communications at Hendricks Automotive Group, all three Wilmington locations employ about 200 people.

Hendrick Automotive Group is headquartered in Charlotte and currently has 101 dealerships in the U.S., employing more than 10,000 people.
