Omega Sports Gets New Owners

By Vicky Janowski, posted Apr 10, 2017
Greensboro-based Omega Sports Inc., which has a location in Wilmington, has changed ownership.

Kristin and Craig Carlock, former CEO of The Fresh Market, are the privately held sporting goods retailer’s new owners, and Craig Carlock is now its CEO, according to an announcement Monday.

Omega Sports has a store in Hanover Center on Oleander Drive. The Wilmington store opened in 1992, according to company officials.

That location is one of 14 stores the company, founded in 1978, operates throughout North Carolina.

“After dedicating nearly four decades to Omega Sports, we took extraordinary care to identify an acquisition partner who would stay true to our company’s people-first values and culture,” founders Phil Bowman and Thom Rock said in the announcement. Bowman and Hager remain as investors in the company and will have executive roles.

There are not plans to add stores at this time, company officials said Monday.
