Surf City Walmart Ready To Begin Hiring

By Jenny Callison, posted Feb 18, 2014
As a Walmart Neighborhood Market prepares to open this spring in Surf City, company officials announced in a news release Tuesday they plan to hire up to 95 people to work in the new store.

Officials with the Arkansas-based retailer have setup a temporary hiring center at 13775 N.C. Highway 50 in Surf City, the news release stated.

Store manager Tim Bass said in the news release that the store would be hiring both full- and part-time workers.

Applications will be accepted 8 a.m.-7 p.m., Monday through Friday at the Surf City hiring office, the news release stated. Interested applicants may also apply online.

Area veterans are also encouraged to apply through Walmart’s Veterans Welcome Home Commitment – a program that offers a job to any qualified veteran who has been honorably discharged from active duty within the past 12 months and meets company standards criteria.

In November, Walmart purchased 7 acres in the Promenade at Surf City development to construct the 41,839-square-foot Walmart Neighborhood Market.

The new store, at the intersection of N.C highways 50 and 210, will be the chain's first Neighborhood Market, which features a smaller store footprint, in eastern North Carolina, according to a news release.
