A pizzeria in Wilmington’s Brooklyn Arts District is upping its game.
 
Pizzeria Don Luca, at 1215 N. Fourth St., now offers online ordering and delivery within a 5-mile radius of the eatery. And, after starting out as a dinner-only establishment, it’s now aiming for the lunch crowd.
 
“We have lunch specials: pizza, a lunch house salad and a special sandwich,” owner Tony Perez said Tuesday.
 
On its regular menu, which the restaurant overhauled in March, Don Luca offers an array of thin-crust pizzas, including one vegan option and a couple designed to appeal to veggie lovers. There are also calzones, two pasta selections, salads and a real favorite, according to Perez: baked wings.
 
“We have 4.9 stars on Google from 271 reviews, the highest of any pizza restaurant in Wilmington,” Perez added.
 
Pizzeria Don Luca does not serve alcohol, but Perez points out that patrons can pick up a beverage at nearby Palate to complement their meal. Thursday, the pizzeria is hosting a bring-your-own-beverage event starting at 6:30 p.m., with live music by acoustic musician Drew Foust.

“Tony uses premium ingredients and takes employing creative people seriously,” says food consultant David Rishel, who is working with Don Luca's on its plans for growth. “He really cares about the day-to-day details.”
 
The pizzeria, which opened last fall, is open daily from noon to 9 p.m. Plenty of free parking is on site.
