Biggers Ramps Up Offerings With Plans For Kitchen

Biggers Market, formerly Port City Produce, has submitted an application to the city of Wilmington's Technical Review Committee to install a kitchen in a building it owns on the lot adjacent to its location at 6250 Market St. in Wilmington.

The site plans call for renovating a former tanning salon at 6240 Market St. into a kitchen that will prepare menu items available for take-out or eating at outdoor tables at the market. Produce from the market will be featured on the menu.

Biggers will build a deck on one side of the existing building, according to the plans. Customer parking will be located behind the building.

This isn’t the first time that Biggers has expanded its offerings since the market moved to its current location on Market Street last year and opened a location on Carolina Beach Road.

Last August, the company opened a beer shop at both locations, selling local brews in cans and on tap for customers to enjoy at the market or to take home.

Biggers' other store is at 6458 Carolina Beach Road. The Market Street location opened for its 13th season in business in March, offering produce from farmers statewide, and the Carolina Beach Road spot opened in early April.

Hours for both locations are Monday-Friday 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Saturday 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
