Courtyard Grill Reopening Under New Name

By Jessica Maurer, posted Aug 12, 2020
Courtyard Grill, which opened on Masonboro Loop Road last fall, is scheduled to reopen today, Wednesday, Aug. 12, as Bar Masonboro.

A new unnamed ownership group took over the restaurant two months ago, according to spokesperson Joel White of Plan A Advertising.

General manager Chris Brault said Bar Masonboro's menu will feature a variety of salads, burgers, sandwiches, seafood and daily specials from new executive chef Erick Varone.

Varone moved to Wilmington after graduating from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, in 2004, and has worked at multiple restaurants in the area, including Shuckin’ Shack, Fish Bites and Michael's Seafood in Carolina Beach.

“He's looking forward to using fresh local products from the Wilmington area,” White said.

The bar at Bar Masonboro will feature craft cocktails and draft beer from North Carolina breweries.

"We want to be your neighborhood bar and grill,” Brault said, “a place where the locals can gather for great food and drinks and just enjoy themselves.”

Bar Masonboro features plenty of flat screen TVs for watching sports, as well as an outdoor courtyard for dining, drinks and live music.

The restaurant is opening with limited hours for dine-in and takeout to start: Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Bar Masonboro is located at 3317 Masonboro Loop Road.
