PinPoint To Close Temporarily For Renovations, Host Thanksgiving Dinner

By Jessica Maurer, posted Oct 30, 2019

PinPoint Restaurant announced via an email to its newsletter subscribers on Monday that the restaurant will be closed from Oct. 29 through Nov. 6 for renovations.

Opened in 2015, the restaurant is housed in a building that Pinpoint owner Jeff Duckworth said dates back to the late 1800’s.

“I’ve always owned old homes and I love the character of this space, but operating a restaurant in an old building is truly a labor of love,” Jeff Duckworth said.

The renovations consist mostly of what Duckworth calls “behind the scenes work,” such as the installation of a new hot water heater, new ductwork to improve air conditioning in the kitchen and restrooms, and a new kitchen floor.

“With an old building, there is always something to do, and on years when it looks like we won’t have any major weather related repairs it’s good to go ahead and get some of these other things done,” Duckworth said.

Earlier this year, Southern Living Magazine named PinPoint one of the best restaurants in the South for 2019.

PinPoint will be serving Thanksgiving dinner for the first time on Nov. 28, with two seatings at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Duckworth said he received so many calls the past few years inquiring about whether or not they would be open, that he decided to run it by his staff.

“The rest of the holiday weekend tends to be pretty dead for downtown dining so we decided to go for it,” Duckworth said. “In exchange we will be closed Friday through Sunday to give the staff a three-day weekend.”

The tentative menu includes: Joyce Farms free range turkey, Changin’ Ways glazed ham, PinPoint stuffing, whipped potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower casserole, sweet potato and farm cheese gratin, Brussels sprouts with cranberry sauce and bacon, buttermilk cornbread, apple pie and butternut squash pie. The regular menu will not be available.

The cost of the dinner is $60 per person, including tax and gratuity, but not beverages. Reservations can be made on Open Table, or by calling 910.769.2972.
