Fermental To Host Heist Brewery For Florence Fundraiser

By Jessica Maurer, posted Sep 26, 2018
Wilmington beer and wine store Fermental plans to welcome Heist Brewery of Charlotte on Saturday for an evening of Heist brews and aid for victims of Hurricane Florence.

This event, which will be held at Fermental at 7250-B Market St. in Wilmington, will be a collection point for donations to the Port City Volunteer & Disaster Relief Organization, a local team collecting and distributing needed items to local communities affected by the recent storms and flooding.

Heist Brewery opened its doors in 2012, as one of Charlotte’s first craft brewpubs. Originally brewing on a modest German brewing system with a basic list of in-house beers, the brewery has since opened a 30-barrel production facility that produces small batch beers ranging from traditional Belgians and saisons to IPAs, porters and imperial stouts.

Heist’s Citraquench'l IPA has recently been rated as the number one beer in North Carolina via Beer Advocate Magazine, Untappd, and other prominent beer media outlets. With increased production and canning, the brewery has been able to distribute their beer outside the Queen City and into the mouths of beer lovers throughout the state.

“Although distribution is limited and production is still small, the beers have made quite a name for themselves and continue to find new fermented followers every day,” said Fermental owner Steven Gibbs.

Donation items most in need for are: nonperishable foods, baby items, pet items, clothing (all sizes), bedding, bottled water, toiletries, cleaning supplies, work gloves, boots and tools.

The event will take place from 5 to 10 p.m. and will include tastings, live music and food trucks.
