Wilmington's First Fieri Feature Airs Friday

By Jenny Callison, posted Mar 30, 2018
On Friday evening, food fans all over the U.S. will get an up-close look at what goes on in the kitchen of Ceviche’s, a Panamanian-inspired eatery near Wrightsville Beach. Ceviche’s, with what host Guy Fieri calls its “lights-out Latin” cuisine, is the first of six Wilmington-area restaurants to be featured on the Food Network show Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, which filmed here this past January.

According to officials at the Girls’ Leadership Academy of Wilmington (GLOW), which brought Fieri to town, the tentative schedule for the remaining featured restaurants is as follows:
  • April 6              Copper Penny: Pizza, Pork, & Peru
  • April 27            Something Fishy Seafood: Seafood & Savory
  • May 4              Fork n Cork: Grab & Grub
  • May 25            Cast Iron Kitchen: Meaty Twists
  • June 15           Sweet and Savory
Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives airs at 9 p.m. Fridays and other times on the Food Network. Since episode dates can be shuffled, Fieri fans should check weekly television listings, GLOW officials advise.

Fieri decided to do a deep dive into distinctive Wilmington area cuisine as part of his visit to the city to headline fundraising events for GLOW. Those events raised at least $200,000, according to GLOW spokeswoman Margee Herring. The money will support GLOW’s new facility, for which the school is scheduled to break ground April 24.
