Green, Lean & Clean (GLC), a Washington, North Carolina-based dietary meal prep service specializing in healthy meals, has opened a Wilmington location, in Unit 3 at 7316 Market St.

Owners Jaryd Acheson and Christian Brown started GLC in 2016 with the goal of providing complete, balanced meals to individuals looking to improve their health with improved nutrition. The added bonus of a meal prep service is that it allows individuals to eat well without having to stress about meal planning, shopping and cooking, they said.

Brown is a culinary school graduate and two-time contestant on Alton Brown’s Food Network show, Cut Throat Kitchen. He has worked in three James Beard-nominated restaurants, and is currently a culinary professor at East Carolina University. He frequently travels to California to explore new healthy food trends.

Acheson is a Greenville native with extensive experience in the restaurant industry, including his parent’s restaurant, A.J. McMurphy’s of Greenville, where he began working at age 12. With a degree in business management and finance, he takes care of the business side of things at GLC.

The company has been delivering to Wilmington for the past year and a half, and increased demand necessitated the opening of a second production facility to better serve the area.

GLC meals are designed to have balanced portions of green vegetables, lean protein and clean starches and are available in 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-oz. portions. For example, each 4-ounce meal will include 4 ounces each of vegetables, protein and starches. All meals are fresh, never frozen and prepared with local and seasonal ingredients whenever possible.

Orders can be placed online, and customized meals are available with a $2 per meal upcharge. Pick-up and delivery days are planned on a first come, first serve basis.

In addition to the packaged meals, GLC also offers breakfast casseroles and sweet potato or oatmeal pancakes in 6- and 8-oz. portions, and soups such as seafood chowder, beef and bean chili, and vegetable in 8- and 16-oz. portions.

For menu options and pricing, visit the GLC website.
