Just in time for Thanksgiving, several area breweries and bottle shops are hosting holiday wine events, giving customers the chance to try before they buy.

Waterline Brewing Co., 721 Surry St., will host its monthly wine and cheese tasting event 6-8 p.m. Wednesday. The wines of North Carolina’s Jones von Drehle vineyard will be featured, and each pour will be paired with a cheese. There will be special pricing on cheese plates and full pours as well as bottles to-go.

Fermental, 7250 Market St., will host its annual Holiday Wine Showcase at 6 p.m. Saturday. The event, hosted by a certified sommelier, features live music from local instrumental trio Luxe and a festive menu from Yeh Mon food truck. With hand-selected offerings for seasonal celebrations as well as the approaching colder weather, the event features a variety of wine from the U.S., France, Australia and beyond, including sparkling wine, old-world classics and modern-day varietals.

Also this Saturday, Good Hops Brewing, 811 Harper Ave. in Carolina Beach, will host the Good Hops Wine Fair from 4 to 7 p.m. Designed to help take the guess work out of wines for the holiday season, five wine vendors will offer samplings of unique wines from small-batch vineyards.

The Wine Sampler, 4107-C Oleander Drive, will host its Fall Champagne Jam 5-7 p.m. Saturday. Premium champagnes and sparkling wines from five different distributors as well as light hors d'oeuvres will be served. The cost is $35 per person. To make a reservation, call 796-9463.
