Often referred to as the old “Water Street Restaurant” formerly owned by Harper Peterson, the 182-year-old Quince Building, which sold in November 2016, will soon be undergoing a major renovation.
The existing tenants, Gurdeep and Mona Singh, owners of Kabob & Grill, completed their lease term at the end of September and are now focusing on the Triangle market.
“Though Kabob & Grill will be missed in downtown Wilmington, we are pleased to be working with the owners in their relocation to the Cary area,” said Terry Espy, president of MoMentum Companies.
The renovation of the Quince Building, 5 S. Water St., is set to begin this month, according to Espy. The owner, Michael Lavigna of Water Street LLC, plans to repair and reface the exterior of the historic building along with a remodel of the interior of the restaurant. As owner of several restaurants in New York, LaVigna wants to create a gastropub concept with live music four nights a week.
The upper floor of the building, which is warehouse space, will be redesigned as office suites, Espy said.
“With unparalleled water views and historic architectural elements throughout, these new office suites will certainly be in great demand,” she said.
