Following an eight-week search for a new location, the Wright family, owners of Bitty & Beau’s Coffee, decided on Charleston, South Carolina for the company’s second location.

The Wrights asked their social media followers to help them select their next location by submitting letter and videos explaining why their city should be the next Bitty & Beau’s location. Co-founder Amy Wright said the company received thousands of responses via email, Facebook and Instagram.

“We went into this not knowing where our next location would be,” Amy Wright said. “But all the stars have aligned in Charleston. We heard from so many families there and the city has many of the same qualities we love about Wilmington.”

Wright said that Charleston’s proximity to Wilmington was also a motivating factor for a first expansion. While the company has not yet selected a site for the new store, they are hoping to find the right space within Charleston’s historic district.

“Being in the historic district would likely give us the best access to those who are not familiar with us, but just as our Wilmington location has become a destination, we feel confident that even if we are in a more remote area, people will still seek us out,” Amy Wright said.

She said many of her current employees are eager to help train the new staff in Charleston and she is excited to offer employment opportunities to people with intellectual disabilities in that area. The Wrights hope to be open in Charleston by the fall.
