Throughout his career in the military, Greg Marinich and his wife, Kat, often brainstormed about starting a business together following his retirement.

A friend of theirs operates a Nothing Bundt Cakes franchise in Memphis, Tennessee, and raved about the products and the company’s business model. So much so that the Mariniches decided to explore it as a potential business opportunity of their own.

“To be honest, I never envisioned us owning a bakery,” Kat Marinich said, “but this is such a happy business that it just fit our personalities.”

She said it was important to the couple to develop a business that would be both fun and rewarding and allow them to interact with the community. They were attracted to Nothing Bundt Cake’s simplicity and quality of both product and service.

“Nothing Bundt Cakes offers a delicious, old-fashioned product that is designed to make people’s day,” Kat Marinich said. “They focus on just cakes and simple gift items they do it really well.”

Nothing Bundt Cakes makes Bundt cakes only, in a variety of different flavors and sizes, all made with natural ingredients. There are plenty of pre-designed cakes to choose from and custom orders are also welcome. Each cake comes with creative decorations and packaging that fit the theme or occasion.

The shop also carries a small line of retail gifts such as cards, party supplies and tableware.

The upfit is now underway at 1437 Military Cutoff Road, in the Progress Point office and commercial center anchored by CVS and PT’s Grille. A mid-March opening is expected.
