In celebration of National Seafood Month, Events at Watermark Marina will host the second annual Wilmington Seafood Festival Oct. 22-23.

The goal of the festival, said organizer Tina Ablang, is to create an awareness of the local fishing industry and the abundance of seafood available in the Cape Fear region.

This year’s festival will feature a full line-up of cooking demonstrations from several area chefs, including Dean Neff of PinPoint, Brent Poteat of 22 North, James Smith of Fork N’ Cork, Taylor Bailey of Hieronymus Seafood, Jeffrey Porter of Port City Pop-Ups and cookbook author Fanny Slater.

The demos will take place in an indoor room with theater-style seating and seats will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. A live video feed will also broadcast the demos on outdoor screens.

Festival goers will have the opportunity to purchase seafood from several area restaurants such as Dockside and Michaels Seafood and food trucks such as Shuckin’ Good Time, Vittles and Wheelmington Food Truck.

New to the festival this year will be fishing seminars with Capt. Amanda King of Second Wind Fishing. There will be bands performing throughout the day both Saturday and Sunday and several children’s activities including interactive exhibits from the N.C. Aquarium at Fort Fisher and performances by the Broccoli Brothers Circus.

October is also Breast Cancer Awareness Month and this year’s festival will benefit the Pretty in Pink Foundation.

For a full schedule of events and festival details, visit the festival's website. Events at Watermark Marina is located at 4114 River Road in Wilmington.
