Lucas Farmhouse owners Amy and Glenn Newbury-Smith will host their first official farmhouse event on Saturday. Pie on the Porch, a Nostalgic Farm Gathering, will take place 5-9 p.m.

The couple purchased the 1903 Victorian farmhouse at 511 Lucas Ave. in Rocky Point and its surrounding 7 acres five years ago and have been restoring the property little by little. They currently operate as an Airbnb but have received so many requests to use the property as an event space that they are now considering doing just that.

“Our doors are always open to family and friends and we really feel an obligation to share this property with as many people as possible,” Amy Newbury-Smith said. “There is an amazing energy here, and it just feels right having as many people as possible here to share in that.”

Saturday’s event will include a gourmet picnic basket dinner designed by Delish, locally brewed beer or glass of wine and fresh pie served on the porch by Cast Iron Kitchen.

Amy Newbury-Smith said the grounds will be decorated with hundreds of hand-lit hanging lanterns, and guests are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs. The Ashley High School Key Club will be on hand to assist guests with whatever they might need.

She describes the event much like she describes the property itself: rustic, comfy and relaxed.

Guests will also enjoy the bluegrass and rockabilly sounds of the Phantom Playboys and perhaps a visit with the farmyard’s friendly goats.

Tickets, available online, are $30.
