CFCC Offers Fall Culinary Classes

By Jessica Maurer, posted Sep 21, 2016
The community enrichment department of Cape Fear Community College has announced the fall lineup of culinary classes.

The community enrichment programs provide non-credit courses and services that support lifelong learning opportunities.

The Culinary Academy, led by chef Gwen Gulliksen, will offer six courses this fall, beginning with Fresh Refrigerator Salads on Saturday.

“Our courses are designed for people who enjoy cooking and want to fine tune their skills,” Gulliksen said. “We’ve had a great response so far and it’s very exciting to see that this program is really taking off.”

Additional fall courses include: Simple & Healthy Fall Soups on Oct. 13, Great Gratins on Oct. 15, Holiday Chutneys on Nov. 3, Sensational Stuffing on Nov.12 and French Macaroons on Dec.10.

Gulliksen said she is open to course suggestions and has recently received several requests for a vegan cooking class, which she plans to offer next spring. She will also teach a series of classes on knife skills and cooking methods such as sautéing, roasting and grilling.

All courses are held at the Wilmington campus. For more information about registration, click here.
