Round Bagels & Donuts Now Open

By Jessica Maurer, posted Sep 21, 2016
Fans of the former Bagel Basket at 890 S. Kerr Avenue will be pleased that Round Bagels & Donuts has taken over the space and is now serving fresh bagels and doughnuts as well as breakfast and lunch sandwiches.

Owner Glenn Rosenbloom worked with Donut Inn owner Phil Santomassi, to lay the groundwork for the new business, and Donut Inn customers will certainly see some similarities. Rosenbloom has given the space a fresh new look with fresh white paint, marble countertops and an open kitchen, very similar to the Donut Inn. There are half a dozen tables inside and several small tables outside as well.

Breakfast sandwiches are served on bagels or toast with plenty of choices for meats, cheeses and veggies. Lunch sandwiches are available on bagels, toast or wraps and served with chips and a pickle for $6.99. There are typically a dozen varieties of bagels available, with feature flavors changing regularly.

As for doughnuts, there are three flavors available each day: glazed, cinnamon and apple cider, as well as rotating specialty flavors.

Rosenbloom and Santomassi have also worked out an arrangement concerning their baked goods. Rosenbloom makes the bagels at Round and supplies them to the Donut Inn, and the Donut Inn makes the doughnuts for both locations.

"It’s an arrangement that’s very beneficial to both of us,” Santomassi said. “ And now our customers have the option of getting great bagels and doughnuts at two locations in town.”

Round Bagels & Donuts is located at 890 S. Kerr Ave.
