Beach Bagels will hold a grand opening for its new location at 5906 Oleander Drive on Saturday.

The event kicks off with a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony hosted by the chamber of commerce.

Customers will receive a free doughnut with purchase while supplies last, as well as a raffle ticket for a surprise giveaway. The first 150 customers at both locations – the existing one is at 7220 Wrightsville Ave. – will also receive a free gift.

Owner Tony Di Norcia will unveil a new menu for both locations that includes the addition of create-your-own salads and new sandwiches.

“We all love bagels but know we can’t eat them every day unfortunately,” Di Norcia said. “You’ve got to have some salad mixed in.”

Di Norcia said the create-your-own option makes sense because they already have so many proteins and veggies available for sandwich toppings. Customers will choose from a base of romaine, spinach or spring mix, then select additional items. Di Norcia also will introduce an expanded selection of ingredients such as hummus, chorizo, pork belly and marinated vegetables.

Several popular specials have been made permanent fixtures on the new menu. The Beast –created by two of the café’s regulars – has bacon, egg, avocado, spinach, tomato and jalapeño cheddar cream cheese, and the Beach Break, a BLT, has avocado slices and a choice of cream cheese.
