Wilmington-based franchise Charlie Graingers Hot Dogs, Brisket and BBQ has signed an agreement with Disabella Partners LLC for the development of 107 Charlie Graingers locations throughout North and South Carolina, the company announced Thursday.

Disabella Partners’ first store is set to open in Ocean Isle Beach on May 19.

“I chose to become an area representative and multi-unit developer for Charlie Graingers because of the following formula: excellent food and a great business model plus strong growth potential equals a successful, long-term business,” John Spencer, founding member for Disabella Partners, said in a news release.

The Charlie Graingers concept was created as a nod to the Peacock Alley restaurant that was founded in 1939 in downtown Wilmington. In the spirit of Peacock Alley, Charlie Graingers serves homemade food in a fast-casual atmosphere.

In addition to all-beef hot dogs, the restaurant serves brisket, barbecue, and turkey salad. Homemade sides such as cole slaw, pimento cheese, chili and barbecue baked beans are made fresh daily.

A year ago, Charlie Graingers' partners announced plans to franchise their eatery, with an initial Charlotte location already in the pipeline.

“We are thrilled Disabella Partners has decided to increase their commitment to growing Charlie Graingers,” Jason Nista, CEO of Charlie Graingers, said in the release. “When John and his team committed to 25 locations in December, we knew it was the start of a long and mutually fruitful relationship. With this commitment to open 107 new outlets, we think Disabella will help make Charlie Graingers a household name in North and South Carolina.”

According to a representative from the company, Charlie Graingers plans to continue its expansion throughout the southeast, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.
