Eleven local restaurants take part in Saturday’s Raise the Barn farm dinner and benefit organized by Feast Down East. The tapas-style farm-to-fork dinner features locally grown and raised ingredients and the culinary skills of chefs from 22 North, Catch, Ceviche’s, Chef and the Farmer, Hops Supply Co., manna, PinPoint Restaurant, Plantation Village, Rx Restaurant and Bar, Surf House, and UNCW Campus Dining.

To top it off, diners will enjoy desserts from area restaurants and an open bar featuring local beer and wine, plus a specialty cocktail: Carolina Bourbon infused with Newberry’s Blueberries.

As of Tuesday, the event was sold out, according to the Feast Down East website.

The event, now in its third year, takes place at the New Hanover County Arboretum from 6 to 10 p.m, with live music by the band L Shaped Lot.

Proceeds benefit the nonprofit work of Feast Down East, which connects small-scale farms to local markets and strives to improve access to healthy food in underserved communities.

This year, Feast Down East is highlighting the Healthy Communities Program, whose mission is to advance food security in low-income neighborhoods through the distribution of affordable fresh produce, participation in community gardens and classes in healthful cooking.
