Pine Valley Market is one of several local eateries to undergo a recent remodel.

In addition to installing all-new refrigerator and freezer cases, executive chef of operations Chris McCauley and co-owners Christi and Kathy Webb Ferretti have reworked the cafe’s menu to reflect seasonal, sustainable fare.

“The farm-to-table movement is so strong now that we really want to embrace regional fare that changes with the seasons,” McCauley said.

New to the winter menu are a black bean and quinoa burger with brussel sprout chow-chow and red pepper hummus on a brioche bun, a pastrami Reuben, a pulled duck confit burger with mango barbecue sauce and a Thai salad with shredded kale, cabbage and carrots, edamame, mandarin oranges and crispy wonton noodles.

The market has also expanded its selection of frozen carry-out meals, adding a lamb stew and a coconut curry, among other hearty winter offerings.

“Our freezer meals have become increasingly popular as people are looking for more wholesome yet convenient meals for their families,” McCauley said.

McCauley, who works with local purveyors such as Heritage Farms, Farmin’ and Southern Foods, says the menu, as well as the carry-out offerings, will change quarterly. Certain signature dishes may be available throughout the year, but overall, the menu will be based around seasonal availability of local produce and proteins.

Pine Valley Market serves breakfast Wednesday through Saturday, and customers can expect a new breakfast menu to debut next month. Brunch, complete with mimosas and Bloody Marys, is served each Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Also on the horizon for Pine Valley Market is a delivery service. The details are being worked out currently, and Christy Ferretti says the market will begin delivering to different areas of town each day of the week. Customers will soon be able to order items such as meats, wine and prepared meals and have them delivered right to their doors.

Pine Valley Market is located at 3520 S. College Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
