Cape Fear Seafood Company celebrated the opening of its second location Monday. The new restaurant is located in Bayshore Commons, a Wal-Mart-anchored center at 8107 Market St.

Owner Evans Trawick told the Greater Wilmington Business Journal in February that the company’s steady growth over the past several years has allowed it to pursue a second location.

Trawick and wife, Nikki, opened Cape Fear Seafood Company in the Myrtle Grove Shopping Center on South College Road in 2008.

“It [the new location] is far enough away that it won’t be competing with our current location, and we will be able to serve a different demographic,” Trawick said.
According to Trawick, the new restaurant has a concept and menu that are similar to the original.

Executive chef Chris Estelle will serve up a wide range of dishes: everything from fish tacos and Calabash seafood to more sophisticated entrees such as Grouper Saltimbocca, Figure 8 Flounder and Cape Fear Shrimp and Grits.

The new 4,100-square-foot space seats 135 inside and an outdoor patio will provide an additional 25 to 30 seats next spring.

For now, daily specials will be the same at both restaurants, according to employee David Cascadden, but that may change as time goes on. Nightly drink specials are available Sunday through Thursday.

Private dining is available at both locations, and catering will be available by mid-2016.

Cape Fear Seafood Company in Porters Neck is located at 140 Hays Lane Unit 140 and in Monkey Junction at 5226 S. College Road, Suite 5. Hours of operation at both locations are: Monday-Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.; and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
