Just weeks after celebrating local Tropical Smoothie Café's first anniversary, owners Deena and Brandon Korman have signed on for their second location.
Bayshore Commons, the Walmart-anchored shopping center in Porters Neck, will be home to the second café.

Construction of the new location is now underway, according to Brandon Korman, and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Korman is hopeful that the new café will be up and running by March 2016.

“It’s my hope that this new center will become the epicenter of shopping for the Porters Neck and Hampstead areas,” Korman said.

Korman says TSC came in ahead of his initial projections for first-year growth at the Long Leaf Mall location, 2804 S. College Road. He attributes the success to connecting with the community through customer service and delivering a quality product.

TSC hosts several weekly networking groups and has participated in a number of fundraisers for local charities throughout the past year.

“The community has really supported us over the past year,” Korman said. “A year ago we didn’t exactly know what to expect and here we are, ready to open our second location. We’re very appreciative.”

Tropical Smoothie Café is currently serving super grain bowls prepared with quinoa, farro and brown rice along with a mix of proteins, veggies and sauces and weighing in at under 400 calories. Specialty smoothies include spiced pear and the chia banana boost.
