In appreciation of really good sandwiches, Encore will sponsor Sandwich Week from July 29 to August 5. For just $5 apiece, Port City sandwich lovers can sample some of the best around. Here’s where to go and what’s being offered:

Whole Foods Market, 3804 Oleander Drive, will offer both its Cali chicken and porto pesto sandwiches. The Cali chicken is prepared with a marinated, grilled chicken breast, mango-avocado relish, provolone cheese and lettuce and tomato. The porto pesto is a balsamic-marinated Portobello mushroom with goat cheese, pesto, red onion, spinach and tomato. Both are served on your choice of bread.

Taste of Italy, 1101 S. College Road, will offer four items: meatball and chicken parmesan sandwiches on a round roll as well as turkey or ham with cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion on a round roll.

Dig and Dive, 3525 Lancelot Lane, will offer three sandwiches: a French dip with slow roasted sliced ribeye, Swiss cheese and au-jus on a French baguette; the PCBLT, a pimento cheese BLT with house-made pimento cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, lettuce and tomato on Texas toast; and a Mediterranean panini with roasted Roma tomatoes, house-made pesto, fresh mozzarella cheese and a balsamic drizzle.

Banks Channel Pub & Grille, 530 Causeway Drive, will offer a pimento cheese pita with butter pickles, mixed greens, tomato and fried onions.

Hell’s Kitchen, 118 Princess Street, will offer three options: turkey, Swiss, lettuce and tomato with bleu cheese Dijon mustard on a brioche roll; Southern chicken salad topped with lettuce and tomato on whole wheat toast; and a pimento cheese BLT with house-made pimento cheese, bacon, lettuce, and tomato on rye toast.

Tidal Creek Cafe will offer a Bahn Mi sandwich with local roasted pork, pickled vegetables, cilantro and a spicy aioli on a baguette. A vegan option with tofu will also be available.

Sweet and Savory Pub, 2012 Eastwood Road, will offer several pulled-pork sandwiches, all featuring slow-braised pulled pork shoulder. The original is prepared with house-made slaw and Eastern North Carolina barbeque sauce on a homemade bun. The pub pulled-pork sandwich is made with a sticky rum barbeque sauce, fried onions and gorgonzola cheese on a homemade bun. The island pork sandwich has grilled pineapple and a jerk barbeque sauce served on a sea salt onion roll, and the pork and apples has granny smith apples and apple butter on a homemade bun.
