Port City Brew Bus recently added several new brewery tours to its lineup.

In addition to adding new pickup points at Fermental in Ogden and Lighthouse Beer & Wine in Wrightsville Beach, owners Jeremy Tomlinson and Mark Mueller are testing out weekday tours as well as a Carolina Beach tour.

Tomlinson says that Port City Brew Bus has also added one more Saturday tour and two Sunday tours to its summer lineup. The 12:30-4:30 p.m. tours on Saturday and Sunday include three brewery stops and the 5:30-8 p.m. tours include two stops.

Each tour, in general, consists of visiting multiple local breweries, learning about the brewing process and sampling local craft brews along the way. Local breweries include Wilmington Brewing Company, Ironclad Brewery, Good Hops Brewing, Broomtail Craft Brewery and Flytrap Brewing.

Plans for a local bottle shop tour as well as a walking tour of downtown bottle shops and breweries are also in the works, according to Tomlinson.

“The walking tour is more likely to take shape this fall once the weather cools down a bit,” he  said.

Potential downtown tours could include stops at Bombers Bev Co., Cape Fear Wine & Beer, Front Street Brewery, Ironclad Brewery and Flytrap Brewing, Tomlinson said.
