The Veggie Wagon in Carolina Beach has added yet another new option for customers, just in time for summer: organic slushies.

“We worked throughout the winter months to develop the slushies,” co-owner April Sussman said. “And did a lot of research on the different add-ons and their health benefits.”

The slushie bar currently offers five flavors: strawberry, carrot apple, raspberry, mango and pineapple. Add-ons such as green superfood, whey protein, flax seed, hemp seeds, spirulina, matcha, peanut butter powder, chia seeds and cacao (raw chocolate) are available for a small upcharge.

Veggie Wagon’s slushies differ from many traditional smoothies in that they are dairy-free and 100 percent certified organic. Sussman says the slushies make a great snack, meal or healthy treat.

This past winter the Veggie Wagon introduced an all-natural hot chocolate bar to the store. Sussman says the slushie bar and hot chocolate bar will likely rotate with the seasons.

The Veggie Wagon has also extended its hours for the summer season. The new summer hours are Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Veggie Wagon is located at 608 B S. Lake Park Blvd. in Carolina Beach.
