The Bullard Restaurant Group, headed by husband and wife team Clif and Rachelle Bullard, has  announced plans for a fast-casual Italian eatery in Mayfaire Community Center.

Positalia Italian Eatery is a new concept for the Bullards, developed with the help of Nina Psarros, a native Sicilian who will serve as executive chef.

The Bullards are well versed in restaurant operations, acquiring a total of 53 Burger King, Smithfield’s Chicken ‘N Bar-B-Q and Moe’s Southwest Grill locations over the past 35 years. It is their hope that Positalia will become a franchise as well.

“We’re very happy to be opening our first Positalia in Wilmington,” Clif Bullard said. “We hope to have a couple of Triangle area locations open in 2016.”

The menu will offer a create-your-own style experience where diners can select from a variety of proteins, veggies and homemade sauces to create pasta bowls, salads or Piadinas, which is a type of rolled flat bread.

The menu will also include one of Psarros’s specialties, a Sicilian chicken and eggplant dish with marinara and fresh mozzarella. Homemade soups will also be available.

“Nina is not only an amazing chef, but she’s a really amazing person,” Rachelle Bullard said. “She is so full of love and life, such a positive person. That is why we chose the name Positalia.”

Positalia will be located at 6800 Parker Farm Drive, Suite 150. A late June opening is expected.
