With the recent departure of founding chef Matthew Gould, Canapé is undergoing a number of changes. Owner Ronald Rene has hired chef Rusty Tolan, formerly of Ironwood Golf and Country Club and University Chophouse - both in Greenville, North Carolina - to run the kitchen at what will now be called Canapé at the Cameleon Lounge.

The restaurant, which reopened this past weekend following a brief closure, is rebranding itself as a classically themed, upscale steakhouse, according to general manager Sarah Manning. Lunch and dinner will be served and a bar menu is also available.

“The menu will be a unique fusion of international flavors,” Tolan said. “There will be some Asian-inspired dishes as well as some Middle Eastern.”

Tolan says that in addition to steak, there will be seafood and pasta on the menu.

The restaurant has launched a new Facebook page, Cameleon Lounge–Canapé, which features photos of several of the new dishes.

Canapé at the Cameleon Lounge is located at 1001 N. Fourth St. Hours are Wednesday-Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
