Port City Java lovers can now enjoy their favorite coffee by the cup at home. The company’s Breakfast Blend is now available in recyclable single serve cups.

“It took us nearly two years to find the right partner to manufacture these cups, and we rejected an awful lot of samples when they just didn’t measure up,” said Steven Schnitzler, CEO of Port City Java. “These cups contain 15 grams of coffee instead of the typical 11, which makes for a much fuller, richer cup of coffee that will compare much more favorably to what you can get in a café.

"They are also 100 percent recyclable, which was a very important factor for us. We were not going to be satisfied with putting out a single serve cup just to say we were able to do so. We were only going to do it if we could be proud of it. And we are.”

PCJ’s Breakfast Blend is a smooth, full-bodied blend with rich acidity and earthy notes according to the company’s tasting notes. Twelve-count boxes are available in stores or online for $13.95.

PCJ will resume its monthly roaster tours in January. The tours take place at the corporate headquarters on River Road and include a tour of the roaster, coffee cupping and home brewing information.

“We love talking about coffee, and helping folks not only learn more about how coffee gets from where it’s grown and into your cup, but also educate folks on some simple things that they can do at home to up their coffee game,” Schnitzler said.

Tour groups are limited to six people and tickets are $15 per person. See website for full details on dates and ticketing.
