Wilmington’s second annual Beer Week kicks off Oct. 11.

With nearly 30 events scheduled, it promises to have something for every lover of beer at various establishments throughout the city including breweries, restaurants, bars and retail shops. Here are just a few of the highlights:

Three-beer dinners will take place at local restaurants throughout the week. On Oct. 14 Rx Restaurant and Bar will host Oskar Blues Brewery of Brevard, North Carolina. The meal will feature a five-course dinner paired with five Oskar Blues beers. The cost is $65 per person. Manna will host Foothills Brewery of Winston-Salem on Oct. 15, with the menu and price to be determined. Pembroke’s will host Highland Brewery of Asheville on Oct. 16, also offering a five-course meal paired with five Highland beers for $65 per person.

Broomtail Craft Brewery will offer sensory training classes on Oct. 13. Broomtail brewers will train attendees to better understand the source of the aromas and flavors in beer. They will provide flavor standards through the Siebel Institute as well as discuss how each flavor is developed and/or prevented. Classes begin on the hour from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Also on Oct. 13, Satellite Bar and Lounge pairs up with Bombers Bev Co. for a screening of the documentary film of Bombers' co-owner Zach Boylston. Boylston has spent the past three years documenting beer drinkers across the state of North Carolina.

Lighthouse Beer and Wine closes out the week with a Voracious and Rare Beer Tasting on the deck of the Battleship North Carolina Oct. 17 and the 13th annual Lighthouse Beer and Wine Festival on Oct. 18. The cost for the Voracious and Rare Beer Tasting is $75 and includes hors d'oeuvres. The Beer and Wine festival will include more than 100 craft breweries as well as wineries and a portion of the proceeds will benefit The Carousel Center, a nonprofit organization committed to assisting victims of child abuse throughout southeastern North Carolina.
