Daniel Tangredi is passionate about coffee and doughnuts, and he’s bringing his passion to Carolina Beach.

Tangredi, whose background is in sales and marketing, has always enjoyed baking breakfast sweets. In college he developed a business and marketing plan for a coffee and donut shop and he has continued to fine tune it over the past several years. He and his family relocated to Carolina Beach from Maryland about a year ago and began seeking the right location for their shop, Wake N Bake Donuts.

“With the exception of Britt's [Donuts], who caters to the summer crowd, there really isn’t a doughnut shop on the island,” Tangredi said. “We will serve fresh roasted coffees and a variety of donuts made fresh each day.”

The Tangredis selected the Wilmington area after reading an article in Forbes magazine which listed Wilmington as one of the top markets to start a business.

In addition to the donuts baked fresh each morning, they will also serve custom hot doughnuts. Customers will be able to create their own from a variety of flavors and toppings or choose from a list of specialty creations that will be made on the spot and served hot.

“Customers will be able to sit at our coffee bar and watch the custom donuts being made,” Tangredi said. “This is something that will definitely be new to this area. We’ll do a lot of traditional stuff but also some really fun flavors too.”

One that he is particularly fond of is the Wake N Bacon, which has java icing and bacon bits on top.

Wake N Bake Donuts will be located at 1401 N. Lake Blvd. in Snow’s Cut Crossing.

Tangredi expects to open in early September. Spruill Thompson, of Cape Fear Commercial, represented Tangredi in the lease deal, and Team Silivanch of Coldwell Banker Commercial Sun Coast Properties represented the center. The eatery's commercial equipment will be provided by Farriss Hospitality.
