The Greeks Authentic Mediterranean Deli has announced plans to expand to the Mayfaire area.

This will be the third location for the family-run business.

“We’ve been looking to go to the Mayfaire area for a while,” said Yanni Papanikolaou, who operates The Greeks with his parents and sister. “We think it’s a good fit for us.”

The exact location of the new restaurant cannot yet be disclosed due to the structure of the real estate deal. Papanikolaou said it will have a store front on Military Cutoff Road.

The new restaurant, like the other locations, will feature a quick-service menu, with counter service and plenty of seating. The menu will be the same as Papanikolaou's other locations and the restaurant will also carry a few retail items.

“We’re very confident that now that we have successfully replicated the original location in Monkey Junction, that we can do the same in Mayfaire,” said Papanikolao. “We’ve really tried to listen to our customers and they’ve been asking us from the start to consider expanding into other parts of Wilmington.”

The family opened its first location at 124 Princess St. in 2012 and the second location at 5916 Carolina Beach Road in November of 2013. Papanikolaou says the success of his restaurants comes from the fact they are never willing to cut corners.

“We make all of our sauces in house, we use as many local products as possible and we stay true to the authentic family recipes,” he said.

Papanikolaou said a constant dialogue with customers has helped his business to grow and improve.

“Our customers are our lifeline and have been very, very kind to us,” he said. “It’s all thanks to the people.”
