A longtime Wilmington chef and food stylist for film and television projects said his Pacific Grille restaurant near New Hanover Regional Medical Center opens this week.

Jonathan Heller owns the grill and hot bar focused on Pacific Rim and California flavors at the former Manhattan Bagel, 2547 S. 17th St.

Burritos, bowls, salads and wrap sandwiches are featured on the menu that Heller describes as quick, convenient and healthy.

Diners may design their selections according to the protein, starch and garnishes they prefer or they may choose from set menu items. Options include a spicy pork burrito with sticky rice and pickled red onion; vegetarian red curry with broccoli, onions, pineapple, mushrooms, green beans and bell peppers; and lumpia filled with ginger, carrots, ground beef and green beans.

Meal prices range from $6 to $8.

Heller said he planned to host a private seating Tuesday and a public opening Wednesday. Hours are 11 a.m.-4 p.m. weekdays, but Heller said he may expand operations as the business progresses. For now, Heller said he reserves weekends for private events via his Reel Cuisine Catering Co., which shares the Pacific Grille space.

Heller has been working on productions, including food styling at Screen Gem Studios in Wilmington, for the past 12-15 years, he said. In addition, Heller serves as a personal chef to actors, including a recent run for Robert Downey Jr.
