Press 102 Locked, But For How Long?

By Liz Biro, posted Aug 15, 2012

The future is changing for Press 102, which has a sign on the door says is closed for "design changes."

Messages left for Press 102 owner Jeff Jones and event coordinator Dan Wisner were not returned. Press 102 is at 102 S. 2nd St., at Dock Street, in Hotel Tarrymore.

Press 102’s front door sign reads, “Please pardon our closure for a short time during which we will be making some restaurant design changes and improvements.”

The note goes on to suggest fans “follow us on Facebook for a weekly update on our progress.” As of Tuesday afternoon, no news has been posted since July 31.

“We hope to reopen as soon as possible! Thank you all for making the last 3 years a tremendous success and we look forward to serving you again soon with your favorite items … as well as some new and exciting menu choices,” the July 31 post states.

Meantime, Michael Caliva was mum Monday about what might move into the 9 S. Front St. space he owns that used to house Crow Hill. Caliva said, however, that he might have news to report this week.

Caliva’s spot hosted Caffe Phoenix prior to Crow Hill’s arrival in fall 2010. That year, Caffe Phoenix moved to 35 N. Front St., at Princess Street.

Both Crow Hill and Caffe Phoenix closed in July.

Real estate broker Todd J. Toconis, who is showing the 35 N. Front St. location, said he, too, might have news about a new tenant this week.
