Ashley and Tim Driscoll hope to capitalize on the demand for construction services in the Wilmington area and beyond.

The Driscolls recently moved their business, Cedar Grove Construction, to the Cape Fear region, currently working out of their home in Hampstead, Ashley Driscoll said Thursday.

The couple, who have three children, always wanted to live down South and near the beach, she said.

"Up there, there's very limited shoreline and it's very expensive. So we were looking for somewhere with a more relaxed lifestyle, near the beach, more affordable and something that had this energy, with new business growth and new things happening and kind of bigger and better things," Ashley Driscoll said.

She said Tim Driscoll, who founded the company, has extensive experience in residential and commercial projects. Cedar Grove Construction's services include interior remodeling, exterior renovations and ground-up new construction.

Ashley Driscoll said the company could establish a separate office for Cedar Grove in the near future.

"We've just started taking on some jobs and quoting and marketing so we are just getting our feet wet now," she said. "We do plan to get an office space hopefully within the next year but as of right now we're just operating out of our home."

She said her husband is hands-on.

"He loves doing custom trim work, finish work, carpentry, so you'll find him often on his jobs doing those finer details," Ashley Driscoll said. "So while he is a general contractor and he does subcontract out the trades, you will see him on jobs as well."

In addition to gaining clients, Ashley Driscoll said she and her husband plan to give back, something they did in Massachusetts, where she also owned a dance studio.

"We love supporting local small businesses and local families and something that he had gotten into with some other big community players was doing projects for families or local organizations in need," she said. "We are hoping to do something like that down here as well."
