A developer wants to build 78 apartments on Carolina Beach Road, according to a community notice posted on New Hanover County's website Wednesday.
Developer New York-based Giovanni Ippolito, owns the project site, 6634 Carolina Beach Road next to the Lords Creek neighborhood off Glen Arthur Drive.
"The owners of this property are proposing an exciting new multi-dwelling community," wrote Cindee Wolf of Wilmington-based Design Solutions, who is representing Ippolito, in the community notice letter.
She added, "The development will include seventy‐eight (78) residential units in a building with ground floor parking, elevators and an attractive amenity package."
A site plan included with the community notice shows that the development is also expected to include pickleball courts and a swimming pool.
Ippolito could not be immediately reached for comment.
The project requires county approval of a conditional zoning district (CZD). The CZD "allows particular uses to be established only in accordance with a specific plan, standards and conditions pertaining to each individual development project," Wolf stated in the notice, which invites property owners to a meeting on the project next month.
The meeting, which is scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 2, "provides neighbors with an opportunity for explanation of the proposal and for questions to be answered concerning project improvements, benefits and impacts." The gathering will be held at the Best Western Plus-Wilmington, 5600 Carolina Beach Road, the notice stated.
