For Brunswick County, Home Sales Up 23 Percent In November

By Cece Nunn, posted Dec 14, 2016
November was a strong month for home sales in Brunswick County, according to statistics from the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.

The number of units sold in November leaped 23 percent over November 2015, and total sales increased 17.5 percent compared to the same period last year, according to a news release Wednesday.

As a result, the number of homes sold this year has already exceeded the total number sold in all of 2015 by 3.5 percent, the release said.

“Brunswick County continues to show all of the hallmark signs of a healthy real estate market,” said BCAR CEO Cynthia Walsh in the announcement. “The number of months’ supply of active homes for sale continues to drop and the average number of days on market remains low. Additionally, the difference in price between what a house is listed at and what it is selling for, also known as the list to sale ratio, is approximately 95 percent.  This should give both buyers and sellers confidence that Brunswick County’s Realtors are doing an outstanding job pricing homes."

On Monday, the Wilmington Regional Association of Realtors reported November statistics that reached an 11-year high and pushed sales for the entire year to more than $2 billion in New Hanover, Pender and northern Brunswick County.

In all of Brunswick County, there is a little more than seven months of supply, according to BCAR. This means that if home sales continue at the current pace and no new listings are added, it would take seven months to sell the entire inventory.

Statistically speaking, a six months’ supply is considered healthy, Walsh said.
