Construction Zone: Work On Water Street Parking Deck Site Begins

The city of Wilmington announced Friday that work has begun on the redevelopment of the old Water Street parking deck, a major project that officials expect will enhance the future of downtown Wilmington. 

The project: The $70 million redevelopment of the old Water Street parking deck

What's planned: The site will become River Place, a multi-story mixed-use project with parking, residential and retail space.

Developers: East West Partners and the city of Wilmington

What’s happening now: Crews are putting utilities underground, expected to be done by November.

What’s next: Demolition of the deck, expected after Nov. 30.
