Builder Creating 36 New Homes In St. James Neighborhood

By Cece Nunn, posted Apr 22, 2016
Crews have broken ground on new homes in the newest neighborhood in St. James Plantation, according to recent announcement.

Kent Homes of Wilmington is building 36 coastal cottages in the 6,000-acre development’s Hammock neighborhood. Ranging in size from about 1,600 to 2,460 square feet, the homes will range in price from the $350s to the $430s, said Dan Kent, founder of Kent Homes, in the release.

Construction is under way on the first six Hammock cottages, including two model homes, two pre-sells and two spec homes.

An additional 12 cottages are expected to be underway in the next 60 days, with completion in fall 2016, Kent said in the release. The remaining 18 cottages are slated for delivery in 2017, he said.

The new neighborhood is located next door to the Seaside amenity complex, which includes the new $4 million Signature Wellness Center, pool complex and tennis courts, the release said.

Kent Homes has been one of the most active builders in St. James during the past 10 years, completing homes for more than 150 families in that period, according to the release.

Founded in 1991, St. James is now home to more than 4,000 residents. Last year, St. James Plantation celebrated one of its best years since the community started, officials said.
