Home Sales Still Hopping In Brunswick County, Statistics Show

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 23, 2016
Home sales were hopping again in Brunswick County last month.

The number of units sold jumped nearly 26 percent compared to February 2015, according to a news release from the Brunswick County Association of Realtors. The release also pointed out that total sales volume increased by nearly 25 percent, and the number of listings in the county grew from 363 in February last year to 537 last month, an almost 48 percent rise.

The release said the huge change in listings isn't just as a result of a growth. It can also be attributed to more reportinng available from the new NC Regional MLS.

“I believe the 47.9 percent increase is a reflection of the Regional MLS enabling us to pull statistics on all sales that occurred in Brunswick County, rather than statistics limited to sales through a particular MLS,” BCAR CEO Cynthia Cumbie said.

The average sales price dipped slightly, dropping from $229,066 to $227,411.  Cumbie said that the average number of days on the market is around 200.

“These numbers show continued slow, steady and healthy growth and a trend towards being a sellers’ market,” she said in the release.
