Proposed Apartments, Office Building To Be Presented At Meeting

By Cece Nunn, posted Feb 12, 2016
Editor's Note: This version has been changed to correct the date of the community meeting, which will be Tuesday, Feb. 23, to inform property owners about the proposed apartments and office building on Carolina Beach Road.

A proposed apartment complex and office building on Carolina Beach Road will be the subject of a community meeting later this month.

According to site plans (shown below) prepared for Connelly Development NC LLC, the apartment project would consist of 80 units in four buildings off Carolina Beach Road near Willoughby Park Court. The size of the office building has yet to be determined, said Cindee Wolf, owner of Design Solutions.

Plans for the apartments, called Woodridge Pointe, show a variety of sizes: eight one-bedroom, 36 two-bedroom, 30 three-bedrooms and six four-bedroom units. The complex would also include a leasing office/clubhouse, playground and covered picnic area and passive recreation area.

The proposal, which involves a little more than 6 acres consisting of five parcels, would require both conditional zoning district and conditional use district approvals from New Hanover County, according to a letter to property owners from Wolf, who is representing the property owner in making the requests.

"These approvals allow particular uses to be established only in accordance with specific standards and conditions pertaining to each individual development project," Wolf wrote in the letter. "Essentially, this means that only that use, structures and layout on an approved proposal can be developed."

The meeting to inform neighboring property owners about the project will be held 6-7 p.m. Feb. 23 at Moose Lodge No. 343, 4610 Carolina Beach Road. The parcels involved are at 5025, 5029, 5031, 5041 and 5051 Carolina Beach Road, according to the site plans.
