Sales Volume Up 20 Percent In October, Brunswick Realtors Say

By Cece Nunn, posted Nov 17, 2015
Brunswick County home sales experienced another increase in October compared to the same period last year, according to news release Tuesday from the Brunswick County Association of Realtors.

“October was another great month for residential sales,” said Cynthia Cumbie, CEO of the BCAR, in the release. “Units sold continue to outpace last year, and the average sales price continues to trend upward.”

Total sales jumped 20 percent from $52.9 million in October 2014 to $63.5 million last month, according to statistics from the BCAR's Multiple Listing Service.

The number of units sold in October rose 16 percent, from 222 last year to 258, according to the association’s report. The average sales price rose 3.4 percent, rising from $238,274 to $246,294. The number of listings in October dropped slightly, from 355 last year to 352.

Brunswick County’s lot sales experienced "a bit of a surge between October 2014 and 2015, with nearly 3 percent more lots sold and an almost 22 percent increase in sales prices," the release said.

Cumbie said in the release that the market’s upward trend is a good sign that Brunswick may soon be a "seller’s market," with less than 10 months’ worth of inventory now for sale compared to 16 months in October 2012.
