RiverLights Plans Include 141 Homes In Age-qualified Subdivision

By Cece Nunn, posted Mar 9, 2015
Developers of RiverLights, a nearly 1,400-acre development planned on River Road in Wilmington, submitted site plans to the city recently for two different types of residential subdivisions.

Plans completed by McKim & Creed of Wilmington for Newland Communities show 141 single-family home sites off River Road for what has been dubbed the development’s “Phase 1 Age Qualified” subdivision for residents ages 55 and older, and another 104 single-family lots in a “Phase 1 Conventional” subdivision, according to documents on the city's project tracking website.

Both subdivision plans include nearly 2.5 acres each for two sets of amenities, including a pool, clubhouse and fitness facility on each of the amenity parcels.

Livian Jones, vice president of operations for RiverLights, said developers are in the process of choosing five builders for the conventional subdivision homes. They will choose one builder for the age-qualified lots that will also build the age-qualified amenities near a planned 30-acre lake, she said.

RiverLights is on track to hold a grand opening celebration in summer 2016, Jones said.

The site plans for both kinds of subdivisions include a detailed landscaping plant inventory and an inset map pointing out the plan for multi-use pathways, sidewalks and boardwalks. RiverLights could potentially hold up to 2,700 homes.

The subdivision plans are expected to be considered at an upcoming Technical Review Committee meeting, according to the city’s project tracking website.
